It has been over 30 years that I have known Mick, worked with him, was happy to see him at conferences, loved his wonderful sense of humour and enjoyed his visits to our Hamburg family home. Without him, great international projects such as the WHOQoL or the DISABKIDS/KIDSCREEN studies would not have gotten off the ground. With his clear thinking, methodological expertise and innovative problem solving he contributed as much to science as he did to social cohesion: he embraced people through his cheerful nature, expressed e.g. in sing-alongs with his colleagues after meetings. Together with very many fellow researchers in the Quality of Life field I sincerely mourn the passing away of our distinguished and very dear friend Mick Power
